Here is what they came up with yesterday. For about a half hour, every five minutes or so, alternating children would run inside and say, "I made you this," or "It's for Mother's Day," or "Flowers for you, Mommy. I love you!!"
Completely unprompted by me, they gathered berries, leaves, and seed pods, stuck them into pinecones, and called them decorations. I am displaying them proudly on my "mantel shelf" (lacking a fireplace, I installed a shelf over the ac intake vent...lol) and I absolutely ADORE them.
Apparently, the kitten likes them, too, since she keeps hiding on the stairs and knocking the one on the right off, then chasing it around the floor. (Looking at this picture, I am thinking it is time to paint the brown shelf white, eh?)
There is such pleasure to be found in simple treasures. I hope you find some today and hold them close. We have so much to be thankful for.
I held my treasures (the kids) once we took this picture, and properly thanked them with a nice cuddle-fest. God is good!!

I love your use of your mantel shelf. Simple joys are the best.
God bless your priceless treasures.
Thanks for sharing your little treasures. It is always neat to me to see the creative things children come up with on their own.
Loved your post and the gratitude exudes from you on your children simple act of kindness towards you. What a blessing it is to have children that love us and give us little treats. Enjoy them now, for they grow up to fast and you are just left with the wonderful memories. Never take those little gifts for granted. :)
Have a blessed week.
Hugs!

Cuddle-fests are great as well!

Our children are the Lord's good gift--what a blessing indeed! Thanks for sharing!
Those decorations are always favorites of mine...
How sweet.. I remember those days. Now I enjoy grandchildren's creativity and cherish each item as if it were a delicate gift for there is no greater gift than one from the heart. Enjoyed seeing the 'family'. What a sweet blog.
