Sketch Tuesday---Science Time

For Sketch Tuesday's challenge to draw "something you study in science," Tex decided to sketch the space shuttle.

He thinks astronomy is absolutely fascinating, and wanted me to pose the question that if you think the space shuttle is an amazing thing to have been designed, what do you think about the incredible human body God created?

Sketch Tuesday---Something in an Art Museum

The challenge for this week's Sketch Tuesday was to draw something from an art museum. I will be honest and tell you that I am not a HUGE fan of modern art, but it seems that my kids are. Perhaps it is because it it is a bit easier to fairly represent a Modrian or a Pollack than it is to attempt a Rembrandt or Constable, or maybe it is just that they really like the colors.

In any case, Ladybug was the only one who went "outside the box" of modern art that the others chose. She picked an impressionist painting she knows her grandmother likes a lot. They had fun, and learned a bit about "abstract" art, using shapes to figure out how to reproduce a painting, and perspective (in Ladybug's case).

Sketch Tuesday---Something Thirsty

Here is Tex's contribution to Sketch Tuesday's challenge to draw something you like when you are thirsty. He had accompanied his dad and his sister recently to the store where they happened to be giving away free sodas, and this is one he brought home after discovering he liked the taste (I am a devoted Pepper, so we don't usually have 7-Up or anything like it around the house, since we don't give soda to the kids as a general rule.) I think he did a great job.

Sketch Tuesday---Something That Begins With "R"

These are the kids' submissions for Sketch Tuesday this week. Unfortunately, I thought the deadline was noon on Tuesday, but it was noon on Monday, so they didn't make it into this week's slideshow...but they still had a fun time, and I am proud of their hard work!

Sketch Tuesday---Something with Whiskers

All the school-aged kids wanted to participate this week in Sketch Tuesday.

I tried to talk Tex into drawing Santa Claus because he has

whiskers, too, but he stuck to wanting to do a mouse.

I wonder if any of the other kids who do Sketch Tuesday will wind up

doing Old St. Nick (or am I the only one who thinks that is funny)?

Ladybug combined her writing activity with her art lesson.

Cowboy insisted that if Ladybug had to do the assignment, so did he.

I think he did a nice job.
